When you decide to go camping you want to make sure that you bring a flashlight with some batteries. You want to be able to see in the middle of the night just in case you have to get up and go to the bathroom, or just to move around. It’s also useful if you want to take night photographs.
You don’t have to entirely rough it when camping out. Bring a little piece of luxury from home. Take something that is lightweight, like a chocolate bar or coffee creamer. Comforts from home can really spice up the rustic outdoors! And bring oranges. Not only are they nutritious, but in an emergency, the peel can be used as a mosquito repellant. After you’ve enjoyed the orange, keep all the peel. If the mosquitoes are swarming, rub the peel over your body to keep them at bay. After all, a big concern with many people who go camping is the bugs. Do not get stuck in the middle of nowhere without having some sort of bug repellant. Check your surroundings before setting up camp for any wasp nests or ant hills that could cause you problems. Wear long pants and long-sleeves whenever possible and inspect yourself for ticks occasionally.
Avoiding bug bites and stings is one way of keeping steady hands for photo shots. Always stabilize your hands when taking pictures. If a tripod is not handy rest your arms on a table, wall or even another person to get a clear shot. Also, holding your breath while taking the picture will keep the camera from moving and assure the picture you need. Keep an eye out for all kinds of natural geometry when taking pictures. Pay special attention to any “lines” that your eye can pick up on in the area or on the subject that you will be shooting. Find the “line” and use it to take a good shot.
